The Packing Station
Energy and Sustainability Statement
To meet sustainability requirements of the Planning Authority and reduced future energy costs and CO2 emissions of the development.
We were appointed to carry out an energy assessment and produce an Energy Statement demonstrating a 10% reduction in the potential CO2 emissions of the building. In addition we also included a Sustainability Assessment comprising a Code for Sustainable Homes pre-assessment to Code Level 3.
The building would provide a mixed use residential and commercial facility comprising a single three storey dwelling alongside a large work studio, workshop and meeting space with a total internal floor area of. The proposed 1120m2 development also included an indoor swimming pool. The site is not connected to the natural gas network and so the Energy Statement considered a number of low and zero carbon measures to achieve the target and reduce future energy costs.
The project entailed the re-development of the unsightly former Fruit Packing House at Goudhurst, Kent.
Goudhurst, Borough of Tunbridge Wells
The development presents a rare opportunity where a combination of low and zero carbon measures may be configured that would significantly exceed the 10% target and lead to substantially reduced annual energy costs of the building.
